I Sleep With My Hands in Fists

from A Man Could Get Tired and Other Songs by Ryan Sutter

/

about

Every once in a while I wake up in the morning and a song is just there, in my head, waiting for me to go play it. This is one of those songs. I have no memory of writing it, I have no clear memory of recording it. It all happened so fast. Almost makes you believe in muses. Anyhow, I love this one. It's bordering on losing control of itself.

Recorded at some point in 2011, not previously released on any other albums.

lyrics

don't know what I'm doing
but I've done it before
and I'm rooted deep here in the floor
trying to find out what I'm waiting for
I'm broke like a pencil
I am strung like a string
I'm ready to flee, fuck, float like a butterfly
I am ready to sting

I seem to find a lot of trouble just from standin' still
but if I lose my pose I'm gonna lose my will
I sleep with my hands in fists
I sleep with my hands in fists
I sleep with my hands in fists
I sleep with my hands in ...

don't know how I got here
but I've been here before
and I'm gonna kick until I'm sore
gonna even the score
I'm open for business
and I'm ready to learn
I'm holding a match, I'm covered in kerosene
and I'm ready to burn

I seem to find a lot of trouble just by being nice
and so I think for once I will be thinking twice
I sleep with my hands in fists
I sleep with my hands in fists
I sleep with my hands in fists
I sleep with my hands in ...
